Safety Hazards around cranes

Working around cranes is full of hazards; if a crane is not maintained properly it can malfunction and cause serious havoc at the construction site. 

While assembling or disassembling a crane workers should take all precautions and wear safety gears at all the time, and must remain in direct synchronized contact with other team members, or else a slight misjudgment can cause the crane to crumble to the ground or lose balance that can topple, hurt and trap the workers. 

Other root causes for the accidents working around cranes can be loads that are not properly secured with hooks can swing away and damage other vehicles and injure personnel. The personnel responsible for safely hook a load should take extra care before signaling to the operator to lift the loads.

Cranes are made of steel that are highly conductive, that’s why it is crucial that they be kept away from any power lines and circuits because there is a serious risk of shorting and pass current through the crane.

The large construction cranes must always be operated a professional operator, there is no room for error while lifting the loads and moving or rotating the crane around, even if he commits a slight mistake can mean fatal for others. He must always closely listen and remain in direct radio contact with the signaler.
